Learning

I must admit the form of this course and learning through electronic literature, visualizing abstract ideas through representative images, and analyzing text heuristically rather than hermetically was difficult at first; however, I must say that I have taken several skills out of this learning approach. I believe creating a learning screen, finding representative images and knowing the reasons why those images create a juxtaposition or abstract representation of the text demonstrates a stronger understanding of the text as well as understanding of the creative process. The aesthetics portion of this project are my ideas, my creation, my interpretation of the text.

In contrast, the research paper now seems more like a simple compiling of outside sources to compliment and support my idea. I think it is important to have both approaches in an English classroom. I think it is important for students to have strong writing skills and be familiar and comfortable with a long research paper. On the flip side, this new creative way of explaining and representing a text is different, new, and requires the understanding of not just writing and paper formation; but is well-rounded, allowing for a multitude of outside images, videos, computer technology, and ideas to be introduced to a traditional work.

The English and literary world is changing right before our eyes, making new approaches to literature a necessity. I enjoyed the blogging portion of the project. I am planning on keeping my blog up and running, and hopefully with some free time, I will be able to regularly post and keep my writing and thoughts available for others to see. I think the  blogs were affective and, the pages for the second part of the project were helpful. I think the different links are a more effective and efficient way of viewing text on the screen.
