Explaining My Posts

The first five posts on my blog are applying Italo Calvino's book Six Memos for the Next Millenium to Robert Coover's regeneration of the classic tale, Briar Rose. Calvino's lecture included five literary concepts that should be carried through the millenium to writing of the twenty-first century. He uses mythological examples and classical literature in his lectures. Covered in his lectures were lightness, quickness, exactitude, visibility, multiplicity, and the never written consistency. I attempted to find literary examples within Coover's Briar Rose to illustrate his five lectures. I also attempted to find an image that created a juxtaposition for the concept and related to Coover's work.

In the following pages, I chose to focus on the inspirational work by Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden. Based on this novel, have four separate pages. The first page explains my personal reasons for choosing this novel as my focus; the second page describes how the novel is represented on the internet with a link to the respective site; the third page consists of a visual image I created I think best reflects the concepts within the story and characters; and the fourth page compares my learning experience enabled by the learning screen as distinct from writing a research paper as a final project for my Electronic Literature course.
